  1. I intended an Ode,
  2. And it turn'd to a Sonnet.
  3. It began à la mode,
  4. I intended an Ode;
  5. But Rose crossed the road
  6. In her latest new bonnet;
  7. I intended an Ode;
  8. And it turn'd to a Sonnet.

An earlier version of this poem apparently had Rose crossing the road with violets, causing the ode to become triolets.
